Robotics Learning Path · Level 1

Level 1: Get to Know Your Lab

Before building robots, discover the components that make robotics possible. Meet each sensor, actuator, and module, learn what it does, and find out how to control it with code.

First, understand the parts

In Level 1, students explore the available hardware one component at a time. They learn what each part does, what kind of information it receives or produces, and how to interact with it through MicroPython. The goal is to build a strong hardware and programming vocabulary before combining components into more complex robotic systems.

The goal is not to build a robot yet.

The goal is to recognize the components, understand their purpose, and learn the basic code used to work with each one.

Sensors & Inputs

These components detect changes in the environment or provide information to the microcontroller.

PIR Sensor Detects movement using changes in infrared radiation.
Photoresistor Measures light intensity by changing its electrical resistance.
HC-SR04 Measures distance using ultrasonic sound waves.
Potentiometer Provides an adjustable analog input, such as a position or level.

Actuators, Outputs & Modules

These components create movement, light, display information, or control motors.

RGB LED Produces colored light by combining red, green, and blue.
Servo Motor Moves to a controlled position or angle.
OLED Display Shows information, messages, and sensor readings.
L298N Motor Driver Controls the direction and speed of DC motors.

What students should know by the end of Level 1

When students see a component, they should be able to identify its basic purpose and understand whether it detects information, provides an input, produces an output, or controls movement.

1. Identify Recognize the component and its name.
2. Understand Learn what it detects, receives, or produces.
3. Program Use simple MicroPython code to test and control it.
4. Get ready Build the knowledge needed for future robotics projects.

Progressive Learning

Our system is built around 7 levels that take you from beginner to advanced:

  • 72 physical robots (12 per level)
  • 72 projects (12 per level)
  • 360 micro‑projects → small coding challenges to learn without frustration
  • 168 debugging codes → practice fixing and improving code
  • 36 physical projects → Level 1
  • 180 coding projects → Level 1 small coding challenges to learn without frustration

Each level feels like an exciting challenge, with compact, clear, and powerful code.

Open to everyone.
